General disclaimer
Bargain.com.au publishes general, factual information and comparison tools to help Australians research prices and providers. Nothing on this website is financial, investment, legal, tax or other professional advice. None of it takes into account your objectives, financial situation or needs.
We work to keep information accurate and up to date, but prices, rates, features, eligibility rules and availability change, sometimes several times a day. Always confirm the details with the provider, retailer or official source before you make a decision. To the extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for loss arising from reliance on information on this site. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that can't be excluded.
What we don't do
Bargain.com.au does not hold an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) or an Australian Credit Licence (ACL), and isn't authorised to provide financial product advice or credit assistance. To stay within that, we don't:
- compare, rank, recommend or arrange insurance, superannuation, investment, deposit or credit products (including loans, credit cards and buy now pay later)
- recommend any crypto-asset, crypto exchange or crypto “earn”, staking, lending or derivatives product
- give personal advice of any kind
If you need financial advice, speak to a licensed financial adviser.
How we make money
Bargain.com.au is free to use. We may earn money in these ways:
- Affiliate commissions. Some links to retailers and providers are affiliate links. If you click one and buy or sign up, the business may pay us a commission. You don't pay any more. We never take commission from crypto exchanges or financial product providers.
- Referral bonuses. Some cashback sites pay us a bonus when someone joins through our link.
- Advertising. We may show clearly labelled ads.
Links that may earn us money are marked as sponsored in the page code. We don't compare every product, provider or retailer on the market, and businesses that pay us commission may appear alongside businesses that don't. If we ever accept payment for a featured placement, we'll label it “Sponsored”.
How we order information
- Price compare shop lists are sorted by price, cheapest in-stock first. Verdicts, deals and warnings are calculated automatically from recorded prices.
- Crypto exchange tables are alphabetical by default and are not rankings.
- Rebate listings are grouped by state and type and aren't ranked.
- Provider tables list providers with their key features. Inclusion is not an endorsement.
Commission arrangements never change the prices we record, the bargain verdict, rebate details, or the order of factual tables.
Automated and AI-assisted data
We use automated tools to collect prices and rates and to check government program pages for changes. Some of these tools use AI models, for example to read a web page that has no structured price data, to suggest which retailer listing matches a tracked product, or to summarise a program's eligibility in plain English. AI can make mistakes. We use safeguards, such as only accepting a price that appears verbatim on the page and having a person review new product matches and program changes, but errors can still slip through. Always check the original source.
Crypto risk warning
Crypto-assets are highly volatile and speculative, and you could lose all of the money you put in. Crypto held on an exchange isn't protected by the Australian Government's deposit guarantee. Some crypto products are financial products, and from April 2027 the Digital Assets Framework Act 2026 will require platforms that hold customers' crypto to hold an Australian Financial Services Licence.
Our crypto pages show factual information only (fees, deposit methods, AUSTRAC registration and ASIC licence status), in alphabetical order, so you can research exchanges. They aren't recommendations. We don't accept affiliate commissions, referral payments or any other benefit from crypto exchanges, and we don't cover staking, “earn”, lending, margin or derivatives products. Before using any exchange, read ASIC's Moneysmart guidance and check Scamwatch.
Government programs and fuel data
Bargain.com.au is not a government agency and isn't affiliated with, or endorsed by, any government body. Rebate summaries are written by us for convenience. The official program website is the final word on eligibility, amounts and deadlines. Fuel prices come from state government data services and are credited on each page.
Trademarks
Product names, brand names, logos and trademarks belong to their owners. We use them only to identify products and businesses. Their use doesn't mean those businesses endorse us or that we have a relationship with them.
Corrections
If you think something on the site is wrong, out of date or misleading, email [email protected] with the page address and what needs fixing. We aim to investigate and correct errors quickly.
Privacy policy
We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
- Email address, if you sign up for alerts or our newsletter. We only email you with your consent, every email has an unsubscribe link, and we follow the Spam Act 2003.
- Price alerts: your email address, the product and your target price. An alert only starts after you confirm it by email. We delete it once the alert email is sent or you unsubscribe, and delete unconfirmed alerts after seven days.
- Watchlist and comparison lists are saved in your browser only. We never receive them.
- Technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, collected in server logs by our hosting provider and, if we use them, privacy-friendly analytics tools.
- Search terms you type into the site search. These are processed in your browser and aren't stored with your identity.
How we use it
To send the emails you asked for, run and improve the site, and keep it secure. We don't sell or rent your personal information. We may use service providers (for example email delivery and hosting) that store data on our behalf, which may be overseas.
Links to other sites
When you follow a link to a retailer, provider or cashback site, that business's privacy policy applies. Affiliate networks may set cookies to track whether a purchase came from our link.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask to access or correct personal information we hold about you, or make a privacy complaint, by emailing [email protected]. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
